Oil, Iran, Israel,
And USA: The Stakes By G. Asgar Mitha 21 June, 2008 Why is it that the US sat down with N. Korea, a terrorist
state and an axis of evil, but will not sit down with Iran to discuss its
nuclear program? Why is it that Israel engages with Syria, also a terrorist
state and an axis of evil for peace talks through an intermediary nation
Turkey, but will not sit with Iran? In both cases, the message is unequivocal
to Iran and the rest of the world that US and Israel desire the overthrow of
the current Iranian regime for very obvious reasons which are not nuclear
related. The nuclear issue is a fabrication and a pretext just as WMD was in
the case of Iraq. The question now is
will either the US or Israel or both attack Iran before the Bush term ends or
will the responsibility fall on the shoulders of the next Republican government
under McCain or the Democratic government under Obama? Whoever it is, the
question that is settled is that both the US and Israel are determined to attack
Iran under any or all circumstances. That is why the US will not have peace or
de-nuclearization discussions with Iran as that will mean delays in
implementing the plan. The timing is indeterminate. It (attack) could, by
several sources, come by end of 2008 summer or mid-fall 2008. George W. Bush,
John McCain, Obama Barack are committed in any and all respects to Israel.
Nancy Pelosi, Democratic House Speaker, led a bipartisan delegation to Israel
for its 60th birthday celebration. Also attending the celebrations was George
Bush. They are all committed to actions by Israel. Very interestingly,
the Canadian magazine Macleans of May 26, 2008 carried an article which
mentioned that the Iranian clerics have criticized Iranian President Mehmood
Ahmedinejad for invoking that his decisions are being guided by Imam Mahdi, The
article even quotes that Ahmedinejad also mentioned Mahdi in his UN speech.
Upon researching, this is what was reported: Ahmadinejad is on record as
stating he believes he is to have a personal role in ushering the age of the
Mahdi The last two paragraphs of his remarks in the UN (not ever reported)
revealed his steadfast and driving conviction, as previously reported in World
Net Daily (WND) ,that a messianic figure, known as the "Mahdi" to
Muslims, is poised to reveal himself after an apocalyptic holocaust on Earth
that leaves most of the world's population dead. (Source: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ Muslims believe that
Mahdi will reappear at a time when they will be mortified and the world will be
in a state of moral and social decadence, spiritually devoid, materialistic and
when wrong will be justified as right. Muslims also believe that Mahdi will
prepare the world for the coming of Jesus. In a Nov. 16, 2005
speech in Tehran, Ahmedinejad said he sees his main mission in life as to
"pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah
hasten his reappearance." Lending to the rhetoric against Iran has been
the late Iranian monarch's eldest son, Reza Pahlavi, who resides in the US. He
too has criticized Ahmedinejad in the context about Mahdi. Also from WND: All
Iran is buzzing about the Mahdi, the 12th imam and the role Iran and
Ahmedinejad are playing in his anticipated return. There's a new messiah
hotline. There are news agencies especially devoted to the latest developments.
"People are
anxious to know when and how will he rise; what they must do to receive this
worldwide salvation," says Ali Lari, a cleric at the Bright Future
Institute in Iran's religious center of Qom. "The timing is not clear, but
the conditions are more specific," he adds. "There is a saying: 'When
the students are ready, the teacher will come.'" Can we read more in
the shocking rise in the price of crude oil since 2006? Is the world population
being prepared for the shock that could come as a consequence of the attack?
Iraq invasion and the pretexts for it had been engineered. No sooner had Iraq
been invaded in 2003 and the US congratulated for the victory, if that, by the
now comatose Ariel Sharon, blood cries for Iran were uttered by him. Canadian Broadcasting
(CBC) reported in its in-depth article on June 13, 2006 titled "Informal
Forum or Global Conspiracy?" that the secretive and powerful Bilderberg
Group meeting in Germany in 2005 called for an increase in the price of oil.
Immediately the price of oil climbed from $40 to $70. The Bilderberg group is a
very powerful forum that allegedly has been making political and financial
decisions regarding the New World Order in which only a few elite would rule
the world. It has been attended in its annual meetings by figures such as Henry
Kissinger, Richard Holbrooke, Bill Clinton, Richard Perle, Donald Rumsfeld,
Tony Blair, David Rockefeller, Romano Prodi, Alan Greenspan, Ben Barnanke and
several other influential westerners. Is it then that Iraq, Afghanistan, 9-11
and now Iran are part of a conspiracy. Iran`s stand is
unequivocal. In April 2008, Ayatollah Khameni declared that "no matter the
consequences from the west, Iran is determined to pursue its goal of nuclear
enrichment for peaceful purposes as it is Iran's inherent right. Strident remarks by
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on June 3 once again
raised the prospect of a military attack on Iran before the end of the Bush
administration. Olmert, who met with President Bush, bluntly told the
pro-Israeli lobby group: "Israel will not tolerate the possibility of a
nuclear Iran, and neither should any country in the free world." This was
reported in a Countercurrent article by Peter Symonds: More Israeli, US Threats
Against Iran) It's all coming
together. The attack seems to be inevitable. The US and Israel are confident
that between them, the Iran issue will be closed and it will be stripped of its
goal to develop nuclear weapons. Iran, on the other hand, is confident that its
destiny is to usher the era of the Mahdi and to defeat Israel. The world will
have to wait and judge but at what price? John Pilger, a distinguished war
journalist has published an excellent article "Iran: A War is
Coming". In closing, I refer
to an important speech by Reza Pahlavi at the Georgetown University on January
30, 2008 titled "Iran and the Future of the Middle East" requiring a
very critical analyses http://www.rezapahlavi.org/speeches/?english&id=250 And just to quote one
small perspective of Reza Pahlavi from his speech: It is in this overall battle
of ideas that the solid and unwavering moral support of the West and its
liberal democratic values are so essential in determining the final outcome.
That final outcome is overthrowing the current Iranian regime and crowning Reza
Pahlavi as the puppet monarch of Iran just as the UK and USSR did his father in
1941 after forcing his grandfather to abdicate following a joint naval and
aerial blockade of Iran. The US-Israel axis, drunk with power, is confident
that they can overthrow the current regime just as they did Saddam Hussein of
Iraq. We should hope that sanity will prevail as already the world is paying a
steep price for the US occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, terrorism, economic
policies and cultural shifts. The combined effects of these are already proving
disastrous on a global level. The world certainly does not need more of the
neocon ideology of global governance shared between Washington and Tel Aviv. http://www.countercurrents.org/mitha210608.htm |
